Movin' on...

We pulled to the curb where 2 missionaries met us. We unloaded his bags, took a couple of pictures, we hugged...but not long enough and then he was gone; moving on to the goal he has planned ever since he was young. We drove away leaving our son in the hands of the Lord.

Tonight, March 10, 2010, The Hungary Budapest Mission website read like this:

"Just called!

MTC...Here I Come!!!

Today he slept in 'til 8. Jared came we rode up the canyon to take pictures then headed to Springville to meet Angie and her kids. We had lunch at Quiznos and then we made the very SHORT trip to the MTC. There had to be hundreds of kids being dropped off...and that was only those with the last names H-N (or something like that). Trevor held tight to his phone until the last minute. You've heard of "Last Kiss" well, this was the "Last Text" for 2 years that Trevor surprised us with, "I love you. You'll always be in my heart and in my prayers. You're loving words will always be there to get me through the tough times. I love you thiiiiisssss much! :)"

Later that evening more came to see him, Tyler, Tina, Jordan, Sydney, Brock, Brady and Skyler. The bags are packed, shots given, teeth checked, doctor visited, drivers license renewed, passport received, wisdom teeth out, nose repaired his breathing restored and the snowmobile trips ended...for now.

March 9, 2010 - Set Apart

It has now been 4 months and about 2 weeks since Trevor opened his call. Trevor was set apart as a full time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Tuesday, March 9th. As many as could came, Mom, Dad, Grandma H., Jeff, Stacy, Hunter, Wyatt, Angie, Tristen, Colby, Canyon, Aspen, Devin, Aunt Kris and Uncle Lynn, Coach Bowring, Bishop O'Donnel, Brother Dable, and Brother Steele, Morgan and Brennan.

Sacrament Mtg and Temple Experiences

Trevor spoke in Sacrament Meeting on February 28th, 2010. His topic was Temples which he "tweaked" to missionary work and shared his experiences in the temple. Trevor was able to go to the Rexburg Temple with his sister Amber and his parents on February 20th. The session was full and so they did sealings. Amber and Trevor got to proxy for parents. It was made even more memorable when a man came in and had the names of his parents to be sealed. The next day Trevor got to stand in the circle while Jon blessed Kaia. Jocelyn loved having Uncle Trevor at her house for the weekend! Trevor and his parents went to the Manti Temple on March 6th.

Oquirrh Mt. Temple - February 13, 2010

Trevor went to the temple with his family and friends; Mom & Dad, Amber & Jon, Blake & Chris, Lynn & Kris, Whitney & Dale, Devin, Allie & Brad, (Madison & McCall took care of Jocelyn & Kaia), Lon & Gloria, Lauren & Chase. It was a beautiful and memorable day made even more special by being with those we love.

Trevor wasted no time in finding out on the internet what kind of food Hungarians eat (which looked appetizing) and what the weather was like there. Most of all he was thrilled that they love Christmas! Trevor has a strong faith that he has a purpose in Hungary and this is where he is to serve.

The Calling to Serve...

October 28th, 2009 Trevor received his call to serve his LDS mission in the mail. That evening his family gathered around him to see where he had been called. With a broad smile he read the first lines. "Dear Elder Hansen, You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Hungary Budapest Mission...." Trevor later revealed that as he opened the letter he looked first to see where he was going before he read it out loud. To say that we were completely surprised is an understatement. In all of our guessing (the whole family made guesses on slips of paper before) none of us even came close. The guesses were:
Alaska- (no name)
I am so grateful to have a wonderful family – Trisha
New York – Stacy
China – Colby
Brazil – no name looks like Tyler
Nigeria or NY – Angie
Tokyo – Hunter
New Zealand – Mom
Mexican Hat Utah USA- looks like Jeff
Australia – Tristen
